About Holly
Colchester pet services
Ginger and Tails is a Colchester-based pet care business, owned and run by me, Holly. I provide dog walking, pet visits and overnight pet sitting across Colchester, and I run Ginger and Tails with a strong focus on ethics, trust and reliability. I set up the business in 2022 to combine my love of animals and the outdoors with over 17 years of business experience. I care deeply about providing a good experience for both pets (and their humans!) and about providing care that is both dependable and personal.
Animal welfare sits at the centre of how I work. I take time to understand each pet, learn their routines, notice behaviour and talk things through with owners, so decisions are always made with the pet’s best interests in mind, never for convenience.
I’m committed to raising standards in an unregulated industry. Alongside hands-on experience, I’m currently studying for a Level 4 Advanced Canine Behaviour diploma and a Canine Health and Nutrition diploma. I study because I want to do everything I can to understand dogs better and keep up-to-date, so I can always offer the best possible insight and care.
Ginger and Tails sits firmly in the heart of my local community, that’s why I come up with regular initiatives to bring people together, including Colchester’s first Dog Census, collecting pet food donations for the local foodbank in December 2025, and producing ongoing educational content for pet owners. I also produce a monthly email newsletter full of information and tips, as well as my latest availability. If you would like to be added to my mailing list, please do contact me.
I am pet first aid trained, DBS checked, fully insured and registered with the ICO so you can have real peace of mind that your pets (and your information!) are in safe hands. You can read more about how I keep your pets safe.
Up until 2023, I shared my life with my soul dog Fraggle, who lived to the age of 17 and was my best friend. She shaped how I think about pet care in ways no course ever could. My love for her stays with me in my work every day, and when your pets come into my care, they become my family too.
